Is Bristol Palin in for a rocky divorce and custody battle?

On Behalf of | Feb 15, 2018 | Divorce

Some Texas readers are familiar with the romantic ups and downs experienced by Bristol Palin, the daughter of former vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin. The now 27-year-old made headlines when she announced her teen pregnancy as her mother ran for office. Bristol Palin is now back in the news after her husband filed for divorce. She married a former United States Marine who is also the recipient of the Medal of Honor. She has also gone to lengths to position herself as a voice of authority on conservative Christian values.

The couple have a troubled history. They were once engaged but ended that engagement in 2015, swiftly falling into disagreement over child support and paternity matters. They reconciled and married in 2016 and have two daughters together in addition to Palin’s older son from another relationship.

The couple made an effort to keep their divorce private. The matter was filed in a Texas court using only the initials of the parties. It’s unclear how the media learned of the filing. In asking for the divorce, Dakota Meyer stated that there was “discord or conflict of personalities.”

It appears that the couple may take a much more private stance as they move forward with their Texas divorce and child custody case. After years of often negative publicity, Bristol Palin may want to retain some degree of privacy and calm as she and her husband part ways. That could be far easier on the children, both now and down the line when accounts of the matter are easily discovered online.
