It is a given that financial matters are typically a truly sensitive issue in a marriage. This issue can have a major impact on each invidividual’s respective lives. Therefore, it is not very surprising that financial matters are often at the center of the arguments of a couple getting a divorce in Texas.
However, an out-of-state divorcing couple was recently not so focused entirely on their finances; rather, they were focused on tickets to a World Series game to see the Chicago Cubs play. The tickets, which had become ever more scarce and pricier, were fetching a premium for die-hard fans. The couple recently headed to divorce court to determine who deserved the tickets.
A woman submitted an emergency petition for tickets to one of the upcoming World Series games. Apparently, the husband owned the tickets for Game 4 of the Series. After hearing the arguments, the judge decided that the husband was allowed to keep the tickets he purchased for himself and his 12-year-old son. However, the husband was ordered to purchase a comparable ticket for his estranged wife. The cheapest of this level of tickets is currently starting around $3,000.
Experienced divorce lawyers are used to helping their clients with a plethora of different issues and answering any questions that may arise. The lawyer can offer advice on addressing disputes and dispel worries that are financial in nature. Texas residents contemplating divorce typically end up contacting an experienced family law attorney to begin the process and to have any and all questions about the potential proceedings answered.
