Country music fans here in Texas have likely heard the sad news that Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert have recently been divorced. It appears that they were able to resolve the matter amicably. One reason for this may have been due to the prenuptial agreement that was signed at the beginning of their marriage. For celebrities, prenuptial agreements are basically a necessity.
The couple had been married for roughly four years. It is believed that 39-year-old Shelton had filed for divorce months ago. To some, the end of the country power couple may be unbelievable. But, to others, it was seen coming ages ago. The couple has long been plagued by various rumors regarding infidelity and other problems.
In the prenuptial agreement for Blake and Miranda, it was pre-determined that Blake would keep the ranch in Oklahoma. The agreement also stated that Miranda would keep the home in Nashville, Tennessee. Miranda, a huge animal rights activist, will be taking her adopted animals from the ranch with her.
It may have been a sad day for country music fans across Texas and the world to hear of the split between Blake Shelton and Miranda Lambert. However, their divorce helps to prove an important point to those who are getting married. Prenuptial agreements can come in handy, in not only high-asset divorces like Blake and Miranda’s but in any relationship where one party brings something financially, or even emotionally significant, to the table. Ultimately, they are designed to make the divorce process, if it ever happens, smoother, easier and quicker for both high-income and moderate-income couples.
