Numbers from Rudy Giuliani’s high net worth divorce

On Behalf of | Nov 8, 2018 | Divorce

Texas readers may be aware that former NY Mayor Rudy Giuliani is in the middle of a divorce from his wife, Judith Giuliani. In a recent turn of events, Giuliani claims that he has encountered financial challenges over the past year. While it’s unclear if he is trying to reduce property division or spousal support in his high net worth divorce, his wife claims these financial troubles are not in line with his spending habits.

A lawyer for Mrs. Giuliani asserts that Mr. Giuliani has spent more than $900,000 since April. The claim states that more than $286,000 has been spent on a woman with whom he’s been having an alleged affair. An additional $165,000 is believed to have gone to travel expenses and more than $12,000 to pay for cigars.

Mr. Giuliani reports that he is no longer earning an income for his legal services. He left his former employer, law firm Greenberg Traurig, in May to work for President Trump. Giuliani claims he receives no salary for that role, a claim that his wife’s attorney is questioning. His 2017 tax returns list his income as $9.5 million.

This is not Giuliani’s first experience with high net worth divorce. Some Texas readers may recall that, in 2002, he settled his divorce from his second wife. The settlement amount paid to Donna Hanover in that case was more than $6.8 million. If Giuliani hopes to walk away from his third marriage without a similar settlement, he will need to present significant documentation concerning his claim of altered financial circumstances.
