Joint Custody/Joint Managing Conservatorship

If it is in the best interests of the child, oftentimes the courts will appoint both parents as joint managing conservators of a child. This means that both parents have the right and privilege of parenting the child. Both parents can give inputs on important decisions involving the child’s well-being, which may include decisions about religious upbringing, health care and more.

If both parents are given joint managing conservatorship, it does not necessarily mean that both parents will have equally split time when the child lives with them. This could mean that primary residence is with one parent, and the other parent has access to the child (visitation).

The lawyers at Vernier & Associates, PLLC, will help explain the legal process involved in custodial cases, including what factors the courts will look at when awarding custody. We have significant experience handling cases involving international child abductions, as well as interstate custody issues.
